Which Lapinator should I buy?

The key is portability. If you plan on taking the Lapinator places, then go with the standard Lapinator. It will fit in almost any laptop bag. A little laptop overhang on the sides of the Lapinator doesn't really matter as the bumpers actually make contact with the laptop.

Please take a look at The-Gadgeteer review with pictures of 13.7" Powerbook on the Lapinator.

If you plan on using the Lapinator primarily at home, have a really big 17 inch laptop, or are over 6' tall, the Lapinator Plus is the one for you. It also has a bit of extra room for a mouse etc. with smaller laptops. However, at 18" wide, it won't fit in most laptop bags.

How does the Lapinator work?

The Lapinator uses 3M's space age Thinsulate Type B Insulation. The Thinsulate, as well as other core components, will not conduct heat towards your lap. Type B Thinsulate is typically used in footwear so it will never compress and lose its ability to insulate.

Won't my laptop slide off the Lapinator?

No. As long as your laptop has the rubber "feet" that come on the bottom of 98% of all laptops it will not slide off. If your laptop does not have rubber feet then simply use the self-adhesive bumpers that come with the Lapinator.

Will the Lapinator fit in my laptop bag?

Yes. It will fit in all but the smallest notebook bags. Our testers have found that, because the Lapinator's "legs" compress for storage, the Lapinator easily and securely slides into the open side pocket of most laptop bags. This also provide for quick access.

Do I have to use the rubber bumpers that come with the Lapinator?

No. They are optional. However, there are laptops like Toshibas and Apples that run hotter than other brands. Some Hewlett Packard models vent through the bottom and need the space.  For issues like these use of the 3M Bumpon self adhesive bumpers is highly recommended.

Won't my body heat build up underneath the Lapinator?

No. The "legs" of the Lapinator lift the Thinsulate of an inch off your lap. The space created by these legs allow body heat to dissipate.
